About Us

At three and a half years old, Jaeda was diagnosed with high-frequency hearing loss—a condition often misunderstood because it isn’t visible. She could hear normal in low tones, and her hearing significantly declined the higher the pitch became.

But from the very beginning, her experience was shaped by something powerful: perspective.

Her mom reframed her hearing aids as “Hearing Helpers”—tools that helped her hear the birds, the bells, and the world around her. That simple shift changed everything. It gave Jaeda the language to explain herself, the confidence to advocate for herself, and a belief that her hearing loss was not a limitation.

More than that, her mom advocated for her relentlessly, at school, in sports, and in everyday life, and always reminded her that she was nothing but able. Because of that support, Jaeda grew up not defined by her hearing loss, but strengthened by it.

She went on to become an elite volleyball player, captaining her high school team to a Provincial Gold Medal match and leading her Junior University team at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan. Alongside athletics, she is also a high-level piano player in the Royal Conservatory and maintained honor roll status throughout high school.

Today, she holds a degree in Civil Engineering and is pursuing a Master’s in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

Hearing Helpers Foundation was created from this lived experience—with the belief that no child or family should have to navigate hearing loss alone.

We are here to provide guidance, mentorship, and resources to support children with hearing loss and their families. Our goal is simple: to help every child feel confident, understood, and empowered in their world.

Because the difference between feeling limited and feeling capable often begins with how you are supported—and most importantly how you see yourself.
